MINDFULNESS MEDITATION
Mindfulness meditation has showed to be an effective way to:
- increase telomerase, wich, in turn, reduces cell damage
- strenghten the immune system
- improve concentration
- decrease insomnia and stress
- reduce the risk of coronary heart disease,
- diminish substance use and urges to smoke, and
- decrease symptoms of fybromyalgia
- reduce emotional and binge eating, and other maladaptive eating patterns that make sustaining weight loss more difficult. Read this article written by Sara Chacko, an Integrative Medicine Fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), on the positive impact of mindfulness meditation on long-term weight management.
This mindfulness meditation group is a five-week group focusing on themes such as:
- strenght
- safe refuge
- equanimity
- compassion
- generosity
- humility, and
- forgiveness
You will learn to understand, acknowledge, accept, and manage your emotions in healthy ways. You will notice how your habitual pattern of REACTING starts changing, by practicing how to take a PAUSE, and CHOOSE how to RESPOND.
When you are mindful, you experience your life as you live it, in the HERE and NOW, instead of being lost in thoughts and memories from the past, or constantly planning and worrying about the future.
We practice with compassion and suspended judgment, as people tend to be impatient with themselves, specially during the early phases of practicing mindfulness.
